Simple Websites
I can build basic websites consisting of simple web pages. These pages may include text, images, video, buttons, links, and so on. But these are static pages, which look the same all the time. There isn't much going on on the server side. Sometimes, this is all that is needed.
Web Applications
I can also build web applications to suit a whole host of needs. These apps have dynamic web pages, which display different things at different times depending on a range of factors. They may include features like:
- The ability for users to create accounts and log in and out
- Different users having different levels of permission to do things
- Storing information in a database, and being able to access that information in the appropriate way
- Doing various calculations given user input
- Displaying products to be sold and shipped to customers
